The Serbian team, Stefan Grand Prix, remains optimistic about its chances of joining the next Formula 1 championship despite the last spot being awarded to Sauber. Stefan GP is in discussions with Toyota about taking on the design framework for the 2010 cars and leasing other elements from the former team, even though there is no available spot. It has also started recruiting staff for its future projects.

In a statement released by the team yesterday, Monday, Stefan GP stated that it is optimistic about its chances of joining the sport later on: « The team is confident that the FIA will eventually confirm SGP’s entry into the Formula 1 championship, » the statement says.

« However, the team expresses its satisfaction at the idea of Sauber entering the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2010. All of SGP congratulates Peter Sauber and the Formula 1 team. In the meantime, SGP is in the process of hiring staff for our operation. »

Zoran Stefanovitch, director of Stefan GP, held discussions with John Howett of Toyota to use the facilities of the former team in Cologne.
