The McLaren team has announced that it will once again extend its 25-year-old partnership with the Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer. The relationship, which began in 1986, is one of the longest sports sponsorship deals in history.

To announce the extension of a 25-year-old partnership, there isn’t much to say about the very close relationship that exists between TAG Heuer and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. However, it is important to talk about the support, strength, and durability offered to all partners in Formula 1, said Martin Whitmarsh, head of the British team.

« We both share a passion for precision technology because in Formula 1 everything is measured with a stopwatch. This long and prosperous relationship we have with TAG Heuer is entirely natural. »

TAG Heuer kicked off the celebrations for its 150th anniversary at an event held at the McLaren Technology Center. The event was attended by Lewis Hamilton, who drove the 1986 winning McLaren MP4/2C around the entrance of the MTC (McLaren Technology Center).

« My long relationship with the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team means I have really grown with the TAG Heuer brand, » said Hamilton. « Sitting in the highly celebrated car of one of the team’s greatest champions, Alain Prost, is a great honor. It was incredible to drive a single-seater so rich in history. »

The event truly highlighted the perfection and dedication that TAG Heuer has always shown towards the team, and it was an honor to be invited.
