France Télévisions will withdraw from broadcasting the Dakar starting in 2026
The French television group will first reduce its involvement starting next year before permanently withdrawing.

This is a page that turns. Historically, the France Télévisions group, the official broadcaster of the Dakar rally in France, has decided to withdraw from broadcasting this legendary race starting from 2026.
From 2024 onwards, the coverage of the event will already be greatly reduced. While until now, three daily appointments were scheduled, only one will remain with “Tout le sport – Dakar” which will be broadcast every day on France 3 at 8 p.m.

According to Le Parisien, this decision is also related to budgetary reasons. France Télévisions being among the major broadcasters of the recent Women’s World Cup, the current Rugby World Cup, and the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
According to the French newspaper, the team that has been preparing for the 2024 edition for months has been informed in recent days that the scale of the event will be significantly reduced for the next two editions of the world’s largest Rally-Raid.
The 2024 edition of the Dakar will take place from January 5th to January 19th. This will be the fifth edition in Saudi Arabia, with a loop of nearly 5,000 kilometers along the shores of the Red Sea between Alula and Yanbu.
