Balance in Corners, Mercedes’ Top Priority in 2024 for Russell
In the midst of a mixed season on a personal level, British Mercedes driver George Russell has revealed the areas of improvement to be made to the W14 for the upcoming season.

The Team Principal of Mercedes, Toto Wolff, had previously stated that fundamental changes will be made to next year’s car. This is exciting news for supporters of the Silver Arrows, as well as for the two drivers who, despite not having the desired car, are still in second place in the constructor’s championship.
Throughout the race weekends, the W14 has significantly improved, but this does not prevent it from being very dependent on the track, just like many other cars on the grid this season, except maybe the Red Bulls. The mid-season redesign with the side pods has undoubtedly helped, but the overall aerodynamics have also been reworked.
Taking inspiration from Red Bull
George Russell, who had an excellent season last year behind the wheel of the W13, clinching his first career victory in Interlagos (Brazil), is experiencing far more difficulties with the car this year.
The British driver, who finished fourth in the championship in 2022, has not yet seemed to find the formula this season and has already pointed out areas for improvement for 2024. For him, balance in the corners is the most important element: « I think we have been trying to improve the balance of the car in the corners. Lewis [Hamilton] and I are looking for a bit more confidence and a better rear end in the car to launch ourselves during a race weekend. »
« I think it’s something that Red Bull has done brilliantly. They allow their drivers to push to the limit during the first lap of the weekend without being afraid of crashing the car or spinning out. », acknowledges the 25-year-old driver, who has only been on the podium once this year in Barcelona.
