Barcelona – Day 2 – Massa drives with windshield wipers!

Felipe Massa was the fastest driver on the second day of testing in Barcelona, Spain. With a time almost as poor as yesterday, the Brazilian outran Mark Webber’s Red Bull by more than half a second with his Ferrari F2008 and his teammate at Ferrari and test driver, Luca Badoer.

On the Circuit de Catalunya, the rain interrupted proceedings from dawn, leaving the six teams present with a bitter taste of inactivity… Only Williams managed, just like on the first day, to complete more than 100 laps.

Massa, with 46 laps on the clock, is the only one in the minute and thirty seconds range. He pushed to the maximum in the rain and by overdoing it went off the track a little before noon. Fortunately without damage, he was able to return to the still wet track.

The track improved slightly in the afternoon. Renault and Toyota only had their session after 2 p.m. Alonso was one of the least active. He is 5th with 28 laps, behind the two Red Bulls and Ferrari. His teammate did just one installation lap like yesterday. Piquet then stayed in the pit.

Williams is the team, also like yesterday, to have done more than 100 laps. The British team took advantage of the conditions to bring in their three drivers. Rosberg is 6th with 97 laps. He made around twenty practice pit stops as well as long stints. Hülkenberg, for his part, is ahead of Nakajima in 9th and 10th positions, the latter not managing to complete a full timed lap, preferring to make pit stops.

For Toyota, Trulli and Glock were the order of the day. They did not run much. Nevertheless, Glock was ahead of his teammate, despite experiencing a problem in the morning by going off the track and brushing against the wall.

McLaren was also in the paddocks with Super-Aguri. The latter had announced not to race this week while McLaren preferred not to waste its mileage with such wet weather.
