The new single-seater of the Super-Aguri team, the SA08, has successfully passed the crash tests made mandatory by the FIA this week, which means that the Japanese team has everything in place to start its new season.

Super-Aguri, which is equipped at the engine level by another Japanese team, Honda, has faced financial difficulties in recent weeks. This has resulted in reduced preparation in terms of testing for the season start scheduled for March 16.

Despite its absence from the circuits, the team has been working hard to continue its internal preparation from the Leafield factory. And for good reason, it is still in talks with potential investors.

Super-Aguri has listed Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson as its official drivers for 2008 with the FIA, but neither has a contract for 2008.

The team hopes that the talks with investors will be concluded soon, which would allow them to forget these financial concerns and focus on the new season.

Sato stated earlier this week that the team hopes to take a step forward in terms of performance this year.

« At the beginning of the season, we expect a tough fight, but we are always motivated, » said Sato.

« The situation is a bit tense at the moment, but the staff, engineers, and mechanics are all working relentlessly. »

Due to the financial situation, last season we had to stop the development of the new car midway through the season. But this time, I believe we can be competitive and that 2008 will be nothing like the past two years, he concluded.
