This week, the DTM teams will refine their preparation for the next season through testing. Audi started their tests yesterday on the French track of Castellet. Its competitor, Mercedes, began its work today on the Estoril track in Portugal.
At Estoril, Ralf Schumacher will have the chance to test a Mercedes once again. The German driver will be behind the wheel of a DTM Class C single-seater for the second time. This car dates back to 2007.
The new 2008 Mercedes will be tested in Portugal by Jamie Green and Paul di Resta. The Scotsman Di Resta is one of the main contenders for the last racing driver position in a new Mercedes car.
Audi will test its Scandinavian drivers, Mattias Ekström and Tom Kristensen, this week. The new 2008 Audi A4 DTM will be used for these trials.
The TME Futurecom women’s team will also be testing at Castellet. Katherine Legge is one of the drivers most likely to secure the seat left vacant by Vanina Ickx.
Former Champcar driver Andreas Wirth will also test the TME car. He is considered the new candidate to drive the second single-seater alongside Katherine Legge.
