Kazuki Nakajima emerges unscathed from a high-speed crash during the first day of testing in Barcelona, Spain.

The Japanese driver, who was continuing to develop the new Williams FW30, went off track in the first corner at 11:25 AM local time.

According to witnesses, everything suggests that Nakajima went straight into the corner and crashed into the safety barriers, thus seriously damaging the front of the car.

His single-seater did not slow down before the impact because at this point the gravel had been replaced by asphalt.

Nakajima managed to get out of the car without assistance and reported no physical problems. He then returned to the pits.

When asked what happened at the time of the accident, he stated: « It was a technical problem. »

The session was interrupted for nearly 20 minutes to clear Nakajima’s car. It is not known how long it will take Williams to repair the FW30.
