It didn’t take more for Alonso to return to the team that made him a double world champion in 2005 and 2006: Renault.
Even though Alonso, aged 26, dominated his first day of testing with the French team in Jerez last week, Hamilton doubts that his former teammate has already dramatically improved Renault’s performance.
« Renault is a strong team that can improve on its own, especially if the two drivers work and cooperate together, » said the Briton to the Spanish newspaper Diario AS.
Hamilton also confirmed that McLaren will fight 100% to develop their own car, even in Alonso’s absence.
« It will be the same thing as last year. Heikki and I have the responsibility to develop the car, and it won’t be a problem for us. »
