BMW Sauber will not reveal the identity of their new test driver until next month, as the team is still considering who will replace Timo Glock.
The triple British Formula champion Marko Asmer is considered a serious candidate for this role. He already participated in tests for BMW in late 2007 at Jerez last year. A second chance will be given to him this week on the Valencia circuit, still in Spain.
But the Spaniard Javier Villa is also said to be in the running for the reserve driver position. BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen said at the launch of the new car that no decision will be imminent on the name of the lucky chosen one.
« We have already had Marko Asmer on track and he will have a second chance to show us all his talent later this week. I will not make any decisions before the end of January, » explained Theissen.
The test driver from last year, Timo Glock, has signed with Toyota to be a full-time driver.
