Kimi Räikkönen, the reigning world champion, is excited about this new racing season. First and foremost, the first F1 event to be held at night in Singapore, as well as the Valencia circuit as part of the European Grand Prix.

In September, the Singapore Grand Prix will be an urban circuit and will therefore be the first F1 race equipped with lights through floodlights.

« Seriously, I don’t think we’ll be able to tell the difference between a night race and a day race. The organizing committee will set up enough lights so that you won’t know if it’s day or night, » said the Finn during a press conference in northern Italy.

« For me, it is going to be exciting. »

Valencia is a new event added to the official calendar as part of the European Grand Prix, which will take place on August 24, around the port of the Spanish city, just like Monaco.

« In fact, I quite like street circuits. I like Monaco. When you do a fast lap, you really enjoy it, » said Räikkönen, who thinks that the season opener in Australia on March 16 will be similar.

« Melbourne, I consider it half urban and half normal. It’s a very nice place to start the season, » he concluded.
