Pirelli ensures that driving without tire warmers is possible in F1
A report from Formula 1 tire manufacturer Pirelli explains that the ban on tire warmers is entirely possible, contrary to the recently made decision to postpone this regulation.

More than two weeks after tire tests without tire warmers failed at Spa, a report reveals that abandoning tire warmers would be possible for Formula 1.
The exclusive tire provider of F1, Pirelli, in order to address environmental concerns, is studying the possibility of tires that would not require covers. However, the decision to postpone this reform for at least one season was made during the Belgian Grand Prix, with many teams being very skeptical.
What « – 3% adhesion »
But the recent report contradicts any hypothesis of danger and explains that at the time of this decision, the Italian brand had tested the new tires without the heating blankets for 17,134 kilometers. It concludes that the new type of studied tires can be used for driving in F1. « The level of grip would decrease by 3% with the new tire, but the drivers would not have to worry about driving with “cold tires” for a long time. »
According to Pirelli, the tires proposed would reach the right temperature as soon as they enter the second sector. Therefore, they would only adapt to the portion between the pit lane exit and the first sector of the track. The tire degradation would be the same as with the current generation of tires. It was only in Bahrain that Pirelli detected slightly more significant wear, as reported by Auto Motor und Sport.
Also, the [abandonment of this reform that was planned for 2024](/f1/actualite/31232-la-fia-gardera-couvertures-chauffantes-saison-prochaine.html) has the consequence that Bridgestone remains in the race as a potential supplier starting from 2025. Indeed, if the ban on heated blankets had been implemented, the Japanese manufacturer would not have had time to develop suitable tires, which would have led to a renewed contract between Pirelli and Formula 1.
