Sebastian Vettel denies wanting to race in Formula E
The four-time consecutive Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has put an end to recent rumors that sent him to Formula E, following comments made by Thomas Biermaier, owner of the ABT Cupra team.

In recent days, the statements of Thomas Biermaier, owner of the ABT Cupra Team in Formula E, have sparked rumors about the return of a certain Sebastian Vettel to the world of professional racing. These rumors were quickly extinguished by the driver with 53 Formula 1 wins.
The leader of the German team had stated that regarding their new driver for the next season, it would be a former pilot, that the seat might go to Switzerland, and that it would be a driver who cares a lot about the environment and does a lot of work in sustainable development.
Many elements seemed to point to the former leader at Red Bull, who resides in Switzerland. Also, a little over a year ago, Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement at the end of the 2022 season.
« I do not currently plan on returning to motorsports. »
After 3 seasons far from his best level, the four-time world champion declared that he wanted to focus on his family and also confided that his reflection on environmental hazards had come into play.
However, the 36-year-old former driver has made it very clear to Motorsport.com Spain: “« I am not in negotiations to race in Formula E with ABT Cupra or any other team. […] I want to clarify that I am not currently considering returning to motor racing.” »
So it’s not right away, and maybe never, that we’ll see again the one who dominated F1 in the early 2010s, behind the wheel of a racing car. But his declared commitment to sustainable development and environmental considerations will always bring him closer to rumors related to electric championships.
