Todt remains discreet about his future at Ferrari

Jean Todt remains very discreet about his future at the head of the Ferrari team. Rumors suggest a possible departure of the Frenchman. He guided the Italian team during its golden period at the beginning of this century with Michael Schumacher.

But he opposes Ferrari’s president Luca de Montezemolo on the vision of the future.

According to speculation, Todt is particularly at odds with Montezemolo over a potential union with Fernando Alonso, which, if this situation were to materialize, would see Ross Brawn at the head of Ferrari. This would likely be to the detriment of Felipe Massa, who is managed by Nicolas Todt, Todt’s son.

Todt answered last Friday in Interlagos to questions surrounding his future.

« One thing at a time, » he declared to journalists.

Todt added: « Even with a very big change in the team, Ferrari would remain very competitive, very strong, and very united, there would be a very good atmosphere. »

« We want to achieve our main goal, which is to win and reach a significant level of performance, and this with or without me. »

He was asked a similar question about his future with Ferrari by journalists after the race, during which Kimi Räikkönen won his first driver’s title.

« My future with the team is to have dinner with them tonight, which was already planned. I will think about my near future, in Europe in a few weeks, » he replied.

Todt added that the time has not yet come to question his longer-term future at the head of the famous team.

But he suggested: « The final result with both titles, constructors and drivers, won this season will not affect my personal decision.
