On this Monday, Fernando Alonso rejects the idea that his McLaren Mercedes team will appeal the decision made following the Brazilian Grand Prix.
We remind you that three drivers, Kubica, Heidfeld, and Rosberg, were the subject of an FIA investigation from Sunday night to Monday. The reason was an abnormally high temperature in fuel samples taken from the three cars. This can lead to increased performance of the cars during the race.
But in the end, no sanctions were imposed on these three drivers who finished ahead of Hamilton at the Brazilian GP.
McLaren has therefore appealed this decision so that the Court of Appeal can find evidence to convict the three rival cars.
We understand the determination of the British team because if the drivers in question were to be disqualified, Hamilton would gain enough points to become the 2007 world champion instead of Kimi Räikkönen.
But the Spaniard Fernando Alonso, once again demonstrating the deep disagreement he has with the McLaren leaders, stated that he would be embarrassed if Ferrari and Räikkönen were stripped of their title.
« It would not be fair, if this situation occurred, I would hide my head as the shame would be great, it would be disrespectful, » He said on the airwaves of Spanish radio Cadena SER.
« They will tarnish the sport if they win the title this way. »
Alonso claims that McLaren lost the drivers’ title not because of competitors who were illegal with their fuel, but because of their own mistakes and poor management.
« They made a series of wrong decisions in the second part of the season, » he accused.
« It is difficult to hide that they did not help me much. It was not a very well-organized season from a management perspective. »
« I didn’t have the feeling of being part of a team, and the result speaks for itself. If we had taken a different approach, we would have achieved different results, » added the Spaniard.
« In the last races, my hands and feet were tied. I didn’t have the power to make decisions, » concluded Alonso.
