Honda will not remember this 2007 Brazilian Grand Prix. Under overwhelming heat and an unthinkable track temperature (nearly 65°C), the tires suffered, and they weren’t the only ones…

And for good reason, both drivers, Barrichello and Button, retired and won’t offer any additional points to their team. Rubens and Jenson, who started from 11th and 16th positions on the grid, got off to a good start, but problems piled up afterward. Penalties, engine problems, nothing spared Honda.

The team will now take a short break before tackling the challenge of the year 2008, which will seriously begin its development program with the start of winter.

Rubens Barrichello – retirement

« A disappointing end to the season reflecting the entire season which has been very difficult for us. Our position wasn’t too bad before making my second stop, but unfortunately, there was a engine problem that caused my early retirement from the race. »

« I want to say thank you to the entire team for the efforts they made during this year. We have gone through a very difficult experience, but the team has done a lot, and we will work tirelessly over the winter to improve our situation for next year. »

Jenson Button – retirement

« It’s not a great end of the season for us. We had a problem with the engine due to very high temperatures. We must now look towards the future, put this year’s experience behind us, and focus on 2008. »

« I would like to thank the entire team for the commitment they have shown this year. It wasn’t easy for anyone, but we fought together as a team and we must work hard to start again in 2008. »

Jacky Eeckelaert – Technical Director

« First of all, congratulations to the new world champion! Unfortunately, our race was less fortunate. Thanks to our racing strategy, both drivers could have been in the points today. »

Despite the fact that the car’s balance was a bit too disturbed by understeer, the times were competitive for both Rubens and Jenson. Unfortunately, both had to retire early in the race with engine problems before we could capitalize on our strategy.
