Saturday Report – It’s going well for Ferrari… and especially for Massa

Scuderia Ferrari is maintaining its desire to win the driver’s title to the fullest and proves it this weekend with the strong performances of the F2007 and primarily of Felipe Massa.

The Brazilian, at home, wants to end the season on a high note and show that he could have also been in contention for the title. He wants to achieve the same feat in front of his audience as last season when he won the race at Interlagos.

Felipe Massa – 1st and 1st

« It’s fantastic to be on pole again in front of my fans, to feel their affection and see them cheering me on in the stands. »

The car was very competitive and I was able to make the most of it. I hope to win tomorrow, but obviously, I will do whatever is necessary to help the team in its fight for the driver’s title. I’m sorry not to fight for myself, but I think I’ve had a good season anyway.

Kimi Räikkönen – 3rd and 3rd

« Of course, it would have been preferable to be in pole position, but third place is certainly not a bad thing, and it puts me in a good position for tomorrow’s race, considering the strategy we’ve chosen and the car’s performance. »

« On my last lap, I lost precious time at turn 4 because of Hamilton: it’s a real shame, but we couldn’t really prove what happened. I hope it will be settled on the track tomorrow. »

Jean Todt – Director

« It’s a good qualification. It reflects the intense struggle that has occurred between us and our rivals in the championship since the start of this 2007 season, and obviously, the whole team is doing its best to allow Kimi Räikkönen to take the driver’s title. »

Felipe Massa, who cannot win the title for various reasons, wants to leave his mark on the season and deliver a strong performance at home. This would allow him to celebrate the extension of his contract.
