Rubens Barrichello insists there are no doubts about his future in Formula 1, despite rumors circulating around the paddocks at Interlagos this weekend about a potential retirement he might take after Sunday’s race.

According to some sources from Honda, the team is considering looking into this matter in due course for 2008. The drivers’ market is currently very volatile. This will be closely monitored even though Rubens Barrichello has a firm contract for next year.

Barrichello answered questions about his future with the team and rumors of his retirement, Sunday night. He confirmed that he would certainly be with the team in 2008.

When asked if this might be his last race, he said: « I think it’s absolutely impossible unless I have a serious accident in the two days left to do here in Brazil. »

« I think people have everything to gain by starting rumors now. I have a contract for next year. I drive well, there shouldn’t be any problems. »

I signed a contract, the team agreed on the terms, so I don’t think anything can be questioned. I have worked on the team’s future and there are many things to do at the moment. So I think these comments are simply ridiculous, denounced the Brazilian driver.

Barrichello admitted that his 2007 season was a disaster and believes that bad decisions and unfortunate circumstances have resulted in him not scoring any points so far.

« This was horrible, as it was to drive the car. The situation was that every time I was in a position to score points, everyone else was on the right tempo too, and I would end up ninth, » he said.

« And then we made poor decisions in wet conditions when we had the opportunity to score points. And the result today is obvious: zero points, » concluded Barrichello.
