Johnny Reid for New Zealand secured his first victory of the season in Brno, Czech Republic. The New Zealander finished ahead of Robie Kerr for England and Ireland. South Africa, which had secured the pole position, only managed to come in at the foot of the podium in 4th place. Results
Adrian Zaugg indeed had a poor start, losing 2 positions in the first corners, and the Irishman was even able to overtake him a few minutes later.
France and Nicolas Lapierre were blocked by the Netherlands during the last three laps with a terrible battle in the final laps, but the circuit is quite narrow and overtaking is complicated. Lapierre finishes 6th, just ahead of the Dutchman – 5th.
Same scenario for Germany, in a battle with the Swiss Néel Jani for 7th place. Portugal, having had a good weekend so far, takes 9th place, ahead of China which completes this top 10.
Erik Janis is only 18th at home, possibly a victim of too much pressure on his shoulders as his director commented a few days ago.
Finally, Karthikeyan experienced a complicated race with a puncture, losing a lot of time, while Australia didn’t even make it to the finish of this first race after going too wide.
New Zealand increased its dominance by also recording the fastest lap in the race… earning them an additional point.
