Felipe Massa confirmed that he will do everything possible to help his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, who still has a chance to win the World Drivers’ Championship. The Scuderia wants to show its unity against the McLaren Mercedes team, which seems to be tearing itself apart internally.

Despite this, Massa’s main support will first focus on his own position, and he is eager to finish the year in a place that represents his abilities and perhaps win at home in Interlagos in front of his supporters, just like he did in 2006.

Felipe added on his personal blog that he is really “impatient” for this race to take place.

« At Interlagos, I’m going to try to win the race. Of course, Kimi still has a chance to win the championship, even if it’s a modest one, and it will be difficult. My goal is victory, but if we see an opportunity to help the team win the driver’s title, then obviously I’ll do what I can. But that’s not the right way to approach the race weekend, » he explained.

« The best way to approach the topic is to do what I’ve done at every race, which is to think about winning the race. If a miracle happens and both McLarens retire or are out of the points, and Kimi and I are first and second respectively, then Ferrari will do what it thinks is best. »

« There are so many possible combinations of what could happen that it’s not worth thinking about it night and day. Of course, the team will have made different calculations with all conceivable possibilities. »

After the last two Grand Prix races, in Japan and China, Massa realized that he no longer had a chance to win the title, even though he finished on the podium in Shanghai last weekend.

« Obviously, the last two Grand Prix races in China and Japan weren’t so good for me, and after the first of these two races, I accepted the fact that I could no longer be in the fight for the driver’s title, » he concluded.
