The former Formula 1 driver, Olivier Panis, has been officially promoted to the rank of sporting director of the A1 Team France in the A1GP championship.
The Frenchman, with his experience of 159 Grand Prix in F1, arrived a few weeks ago in the team as an advisor and was eventually promoted to the position of Jean-Paul Driot who prefers to focus on his DAMS team in GP2 and supervise the A1 Team France.
« I am happy to bring my experience in auto racing to the A1 France team this year, » commented Panis joyfully.
« I must say that I am very impressed with the professionalism of the championship, the level of performance of the cars, and the organization of the A1 Team France. »
« This season, the performances seem very close, and it’s a detail that could make the difference. I hope to help find it. » Continues the former Toyota F1 driver.
« I have always loved the technical side of racing, and my role will be to help the team progress by talking a lot with the engineers and drivers. »
« Moreover, I have always been a bit chauvinistic… and throughout my career, I have made it a point of honor to continue living in my country. So, it seemed natural to me to accept the offer from the A1 France team when they proposed it to me. » He concluded.
Oliver Panis took office this morning and will have the objective of reclaiming the title lost in 2006.
