Jonny Reid – A1 Team New Zealand – set the fastest time in the last free practice session this morning in Brno, Czech Republic. Unlike the first day, it seems that the leaders have become challengers. Results
The New Zealander achieved the hat trick – pole position, fastest lap, victory – last season and hopes to repeat his accomplishment. He is ahead of the Dutchman by 0.4 seconds. Adam Carroll for Ireland is just a thousandth behind and thus completes the top three.
Under near-winter weather conditions, the cars reacted very differently from the first day. Switzerland clocked the 4th best time, ahead of France and Nicolas Lapierre, who seems to be finding his bearings. Mexico—and the new driver Jourdain Jr.—Great Britain, China, Brazil, and Alex Yoong’s Malaysia make it into the top 10.
Germany’s Christian Vietoris is only 14th. The young 18-year-old driver experienced some mechanical issues but remains one of the contenders for pole position in the qualifications alongside France and South Africa.
The conditions for the qualifications this afternoon should improve.
