Tony Teixeira, the current president of A1GP, officially confirmed today (Thursday) that a historic agreement had been reached between Ferrari and the A1GP World Championship.

The Italian team will indeed supply the engines and chassis of the single-seaters for this young championship for its 4th season, in 2008/2009, for 6 years.

Starting in January, an agreement was also reached to sponsor the single-seaters with the terms Powered by Ferrari.

Teixeira commented on this small revolution: « Becoming a partner with a world-renowned team like Ferrari makes the A1 GP championship one of the most important in the world. »

In 2009, another championship, a subsidiary of the A1GP, is expected to emerge, much more regional. This second division would be named A2GP and would also be fully equipped by the Maranello manufacturer.

« Ferrari will allow us to have significant importance for our brand, and in my opinion, there is no better partner to advance a championship, » added Mr. Teixeira.

« We will meet with our business partners in the coming weeks to repeatedly discuss the details of this association. »

« Ferrari is very well-represented worldwide, and we can now ensure that they have enough dealers globally to provide spare parts, for example. »
