With a final sixth place as the best result, the Rally of Spain was once again disappointing for the Subaru team. The Blues have still not secured a victory this 2007 season despite a revamped Impreza and hope the Corsican asphalt will be more favorable to this new car.
« We tackled the last Spanish stage by making some adjustments to the car », says Petter Solberg, Subaru’s best representative in Spain.
I hope these progresses will be visible in Corsica. The terrain is very different there, but the weather can also play a significant role. Generally, this rally is easier for our team, so I hope to be competitive from the first stage.
Petter Solberg had added the 2003 Rallye de France – Tour de Corse to his record after an impressive accident during the shakedown.
Chris Atkinson, for his part, secured 8th place in the rally, more than a minute and thirty seconds behind his teammate. The young Australian is not on his favorite surface on the tarmac. He is accustomed to gravel and still has much to learn on asphalt, despite a remarkable season so far.
