Heikki Kovalainen confirmed his participation in the 2008 Race of Champions (ROC) and hopes to achieve a remarkable feat like in 2004, when he won the trophy.
The Finnish driver had then beaten Michael Schumacher in the final at a packed Stade de France in Paris three years ago.
This season, the tournament, which brings together a team of two drivers from the same country to win a team or individual title, will take place at Wembley Stadium in England on December 16.
« Beating Mickael was exceptional for me, » commented Kovalainen.
« I remember watching him on TV back when I was karting and he was competing against Ayrton Senna. But when I won, in front of thousands of people, got out of the car, and climbed onto the roof, it was an unforgettable moment! »
Driving in a packed stadium creates an extraordinary atmosphere, and I am motivated to win the race this year, especially since I lost last year by 0.0002 seconds to Ekstrom and Sweden. I’m looking forward to being at Wembley.
The stadium for the occasion will be completely transformed to make way for an asphalt track in a figure-eight shape. Spectacle guaranteed with Mégane Trophy and other Buggies.
