The Team Great Britain won the first victory of the 2007/2008 Endurance race. The second race of the weekend in A1GP. Oliver Jarvis managed to gain the advantage over South African Adrian Zaugg, who secured the first victory a few hours earlier, and Switzerland. Mexico with Duran and France with Loci Duval complete this top 5.
Oliver Jarvis started 3rd. But from the first lap, he was able to overtake the German Vietoris with a very fine maneuver. He then took advantage of his pit stop to take the first position from Zaugg and would not let it go.
Néel Jani (3rd), who has already overtaken Vietoris, then caught up with the South African Zaugg but couldn’t overtake him and secured his third position.
Mexico sets the fastest lap in the race and will therefore bring back one more point. Salvador Duran is 4th. He is ahead of France, which fought hard with Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The young German lacks a bit of experience and struggled in this race. They started second but will finish 9th, behind the Dutch home driver who enjoyed a final battle in front of a large audience.
The final point went to Erik Janis, scoring the last point for 10th place for the Czech Republic.
This first weekend has therefore been successful for France and overall for the A1 GP competition with many spectators welcomed in Zandvoort and great overtaking.
