Rumors suggested that Alonso might join Ferrari in 2008. Jean Todt today denied these “speculations” by clearly explaining that Ferrari was very happy with Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen.
This morning Jean Todt, before the Japanese Grand Prix in Fuji, gave an interview to the ITV television channel and stated that all these rumors were just speculations.
“We have our two drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa for 2008 and we respect these contracts. Our two drivers have really done a fantastic job this season.”
“Fernando Alonso is a great driver, a double world champion, and is fighting for a third title. I have a lot of respect for him, but we are very happy with our two drivers and we want to keep them,” he concluded.
Alonso had said a few days ago that he would like to stay with McLaren Mercedes, but he might still be discussing a seat with Renault in 2008…
