Aston Martin will unveil the AMR24 on February 12th

It is official, Aston Martin will unveil its 2024 single-seater on February 12th at Silverstone. The date was first announced in an email sent to members of the team’s I/AM fan campaign.

An invitation to a contest to attend the unveiling has also been communicated. The racecar will be named the AMR24.

Overcoming the issues of 2023

The new Aston Martin race car needs to address a major issue encountered in 2023: straight-line speed. While these difficulties were not evident at the beginning of the season, the lack of development has highlighted this lack of speed. Furthermore, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have regularly complained about a lack of consistency in the race car, which has proven to be difficult to drive.

« “I think we need to find some coherence,” declared the double World Champion. « “One of the weaknesses was that the car had to operate within a very narrow window.”

It’s the same for everyone with ground-effect cars, but it seems that we’re struggling a bit. It would be great if we can still perform at a stable level next year. Additionally, we need to improve straight-line speed, I think we’re still a bit too slow on the straights. To be as fast as the others, we need to lower the rear wing. Then, we ended up being slow in the corners as well. So, that was probably the loop we couldn’t get out of this season.

Fernando Alonso congratulated the whole team for the development of a car that had no degradation issues in 2023. The strategies also proved successful on numerous occasions. Furthermore, Aston Martin quickly chose to focus on development for 2024. If the performances during the 2023 season faded quickly, it was partly due to the decision to rapidly prepare for 2024.

Aston Martin is now the 4th team to announce the unveiling date. Only Ferrari, Sauber, and Williams had previously communicated about it.
