At the dawn of a new season about to begin, Simone Resta has decided to leave his position as Technical Director at Haas F1 Team. The information, not yet confirmed by Haas, nonetheless appeared on the official Formula 1 website.

The American racing team has undergone a major change in its management in recent days, including the unexpected announcement a few days ago of the dismissal of Günther Steiner, former Team Principal of the American team.

The 53-year-old Italian, who has been with Haas since 2021, is said to have lost the motivation to work in a complex environment. The disagreement over the car’s development with Gene Haas, the team owner, is believed to have led Resta to contemplate his future as early as the end of last year.

Before working at Haas, the engineer from Faenza had worked at Ferrari for a long time, from 2014 to 2018 and then from 2019 to 2021. He had respectively held the positions of chief designer and director of the chassis development department. Resta had also made a brief stop at Alfa Romeo as a technical director between these two positions in Maranello.

Simone Resta had joined Haas in 2021 as part of an agreement between Ferrari and the American team, which is powered by Ferrari engines. This followed Ferrari’s desire to strengthen the technical ties between the two teams, as they have been working closely together since Haas entered Formula 1 in 2016.

But in sporting terms, Haas had a catastrophic season in 2023, finishing last in the constructor’s championship, with only 12 points accumulated in 22 races.

The American stable, which has not yet revealed the date of presentation of its future single-seater, begins this new season 2024 with a large number of movements to manage.
