Doriane Pin to take part in F1 Academy with Mercedes support in 2024

The 20-year-old Frenchwoman, who is competing in her first single-seater races in the Middle East this winter, has been announced by Mercedes as a member of the F1 Academy in 2024. The German team has also indicated that she will join its junior program.

Revealed to the world of motorsport through her achievements with the Iron Dames program in endurance and GT racing, Doriane Pin has since ventured into single-seaters since the end of last year.

To fuel rumors about her participation in the F1 Academy, the single-seater championship dedicated to female drivers. And these rumors have just been dispelled by Mercedes. The German team has indeed announced the arrival of the French driver in their junior program, and she will compete in the 2024 season of the F1 Academy with Prema.

The French woman then spoke about her arrival in the junior program at Mercedes. “I am incredibly happy to join the Mercedes Junior Program and to represent the team this year in the F1 Academy with Prema Racing,” she declared.

A new chapter begins, and I am proud to take this next step within such a prestigious team and with the Iron Dames project. I am grateful for their trust and honored to race for their colors.

Doriane Pin joined the Iron Dames program in 2021. After finishing third in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in her first season, the French driver competed in the 2022 season of Ferrari Challenge Europe and was crowned champion, winning nine out of fourteen races. In August 2022, she won the prestigious 24 Hours of Spa in the Gold category alongside the Iron Dames team.

For the 2023 season, she joins Prema Racing and competes in the World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 category. She secures a podium finish in the first race of the season at Sebring with her teammates Mirko Bortolotti and Daniil Kvyat, former Formula 1 driver.

Since the end of last year, the Frenchwoman has ventured into single-seaters and she actually won her first victory in the South-East Asian Formula 4 championship. “Moving to single-seaters was a clear goal for my career and being in this environment is an excellent approach. I am working very hard to reach the highest level in this sport and I am excited to take the start,” she stated.

Toto Wolff, team principal of Mercedes in F1, praised the French driver. “Doriane is an exciting talent, and we are delighted to begin our participation in the F1 Academy with her as a driver,” declared the Austrian director. “We have closely followed her development in recent years as she has consistently impressed us. […] We are looking forward to working in collaboration with Iron Dames, Prema Racing, and the F1 Academy to support Doriane in her next career step.”
