Two executives from the legal department in Formula 1 are leaving the FIA
The FIA continues to face numerous departures within its organization. Now, two senior executives from the legal department of the FIA, involved in Formula 1, are leaving the Federation.

After the departure of its sports director and its logistics manager at the end of 2023, followed by that of its technical director, Tim Goss, just a month ago, the International Automobile Federation has lost two key executives from its legal department specializing in Formula 1.
Pierre Ketterer, Director of Governance and Regulation, and Edward Floydd, Head of Corporate Legal Affairs, both of whom participated in the negotiations of the Concorde Agreements, have left the FIA.
Pierre Ketterer, who joined the FIA in 2010, will begin a new role at the International Olympic Committee in April. He has been recognized as one of the key legal figures within the organization, involved in disciplinary matters both in Formula 1 and various sports fields, as well as external affairs.
Under the leadership of former president Jean Todt, Ketterer led negotiations on behalf of the FIA for the current Concorde Agreements, which expire in 2026. He also established the FIA’s judicial and disciplinary rules in 2011, and played a key role in developing the code of conduct during the Covid-19 crisis, which allowed Formula 1 to resume in July 2020.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the current President of the FIA, spoke in the columns of Autosport following Ketterer’s departure. (e) Personally and professionally, I will miss Pierre. I have known him for 14 years, long before I became President of the FIA. I have always found him meticulous in his commitment to the Federation and its members.
He was a prominent and respected figure within our organization. I want to thank him for his priceless contribution and unwavering professionalism. I am convinced that with the team put in place by Pierre, the governance and regulatory affairs of the FIA are in good hands.
He has decided to give a new direction to his career after years of loyal service, and I wish him good luck in his new role, concluded Ben Sulayem.
A large-scale transformation
On his part, Edward Floydd was the main civil and commercial legal advisor for the FIA. He was also involved in the discussions surrounding the Concorde Agreements as the lead legal negotiator and advisor for the agreements with the championship promoters.
Pierre Ketterer and Edward Floydd are joining a significant number of people who have left the FIA in recent weeks. The Federation is undergoing a restructuring, as indicated by an organization spokesperson. « The FIA has undertaken a large-scale transformation in the past 12 months. »
« We have created 10 new departments to restructure the Federation in order to make it more suited to the future. As some individuals leave for other opportunities, we have also welcomed new arrivals, including three new hires within the leadership team in recent months, namely a chief legal officer, a chief commercial officer, and a senior director of sustainability and equality, diversity, and inclusion.
», stated the spokesperson for the FIA.
