Red Bull has decided to take the lead. For the past few days, the current director of the Austrian team, Christian Horner, has been the subject of a complaint. One of the employees of the group accuses the engineer of having displayed inappropriate behavior.

The directors of Red Bull quickly issued a statement stating that, after becoming aware of certain recent allegations, the company has launched an independent investigation. The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be completed as soon as possible. It would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.

The investigation, handed over to a specialized lawyer, has already started and Christian Horner is scheduled to be heard on Friday by independent legal representatives.

Currently, the British engineer is still performing his duties. Although Red Bull has claimed that the matter is being taken seriously and that if there were any, there would be sanctions, the group did not comment prior to this meeting.

Interviewed by De Telegraaf, a Dutch newspaper, Christian Horner denied any wrongdoing. “I completely deny these allegations,” he stated.

A problematic story while everything was going well.

The case could create a toxic atmosphere within the team that had experienced two calm years. After a few incidents with Sergio Perez, Red Bull had not experienced any tumultuous episodes. Max Verstappen had established himself as the natural leader of the paddock and Red Bull as the master of the race cars. There had been no media mishaps that harmed the team and no sporting fiascos. Therefore, everything was going well with the Austrians. Or at least, that’s what it seemed.

The complaint against Christian Horner could create a more tense atmosphere. As he is the longest-serving team principal (since 2005) and one of the most respected on the grid, this matter could be detrimental to his reputation. Moreover, if the allegations turn out to be true, Red Bull would be faced with a challenging situation.

If the group were to dismiss its director for serious misconduct, a replacement would need to be found. Personally, Christian Horner is close to his drivers. Moreover, he knows the ins and outs of Formula 1 perfectly. His departure would be a colossal loss for the team. On the other hand, if Red Bull were to keep him despite this proven incident, tensions could arise within the company.

The arrival of this complaint could create a delicate atmosphere in a team where everything seemed calm. The RB19 must be presented on February 15th.
