McLaren unveils its true Formula 1 car for 2024
Nearly a month after unveiling its 2024 livery, McLaren unveiled its actual single-seater on Wednesday, February 14th.

The Woking team has remained very discreet with its announcements this winter. After the surprise unveiling of its 2024 livery on January 16, McLaren has now revealed its actual racing car, the MCL38.
Even today’s presentation remained very simple, and the team only posted a rather discreet video of their car, and then a few photos appeared.
The team also announced a shakedown at the Silverstone circuit, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri taking turns behind the wheel of the MCL38 today.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, spoke following this presentation. “It’s fantastic to be able to launch our contender for 2024, the MCL38, today at Silverstone. It’s great to see our new car in its 2024 livery on the track and to see the hard work and dedication of the team come to fruition,” he said.
What is fantastic about this sport is how competitive it is, so we have to stay realistic because every team will have improved during the offseason. The true test to determine if we have made progress in the right direction will be the qualifications in Bahrain.
“We are all eager to resume the race, but we know that a long season awaits us and that there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure that we capitalize on the progress made throughout 2023,” concluded the American boss.
« Not all areas have been completed »
Andrea Stella, team director of McLaren F1, echoed his boss’s words. The team is delighted to unveil the MCL38 today and to see it on the track for the first time.
(D) As we approach this year, we seek to build upon the momentum from last season, but we are realistic in knowing that each team will have made progress and found competitiveness for their 2024 car”, he added. (D) We now have everything in place from an infrastructure, personnel, and cultural standpoint, so we continue to move forward and capitalize on the work done to put ourselves back at the front of the pack.
« There are several innovations on the car, but not all the areas we want to address have been completed for our launch car,” admitted the Italian director.
« These areas now become the center of our ongoing development, which is already underway.
The British team will fly to Bahrain for the pre-season tests, which will take place from February 21st to 23rd at the Bahrain International Circuit.
