Formula E CEO to offer $250,000 to charity if Verstappen is not champion in 2024
Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, the electric single-seater championship, has taken a crazy gamble. If Max Verstappen doesn't win the F1 world championship in 2024, Dodds has promised to donate $250,000 to charity.

Even before the start of the 2024 Formula 1 season, the most pessimistic predictions have already been made: Max Verstappen is the clear favorite to defend his title. The Dutchman understandably holds that position after dominating the past two seasons and smashing records last season.
But drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Fernando Alonso are all motivated to try to overthrow the Dutchman, and Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds has raised the stakes for whoever manages to beat the Red Bull driver.
During an interview on TNT Sports, the broadcaster of Formula E in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Jeff Dodds promised to donate $250,000 to a charity chosen by the driver who beats Verstappen in the championship this year.
If one of the 19 other drivers wins the championship, we will donate a quarter of a million dollars to the charity chosen by the winning pilot, he said, explaining why he is happy to bet on it. “And well, it wouldn’t be the worst day at the office, to give a lot of money to a charity.”
I know that as a Formula 1 fan, the season is about to start, and yeah, I’m going to watch it. But I absolutely already know who’s going to win, declared Jeff Dodds. You can’t win 19 out of 21 races in a season, go on break, do some car development, come back for the next one, and not win it, I just can’t believe it, he concluded.
The chances of Max Verstappen being beaten this season are slim, but the Formula E CEO’s bet still has the merit of existing.
