Sergio Perez has confidence in his car ahead of his first Chinese Grand Prix in a Red Bull
Sergio Perez says he feels confident ahead of this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix.

The Mexican driver arrives in China with full of confidence. He believes that his performance at the Japanese Grand Prix highlights how confident he is with his Red Bull this year.
Sergio Perez had a good weekend at Suzuka, qualifying just a tenth of a second behind Max Verstappen. He followed up with a strong race performance to finish second, for the third time in four races. An important weekend for Perez, who had a very tough race in Japan last year.
With the poor performance of Daniel Ricciardo, Perez is widely considered the favorite to secure his place with Red Bull. In anticipation of this weekend in Shanghai, Perez will have to face the challenge of driving in China for the first time as a Red Bull driver.
« It’s exciting to return to China, it’s been a very, very long time since we were last here. I have never driven a Red Bull on this circuit, so it will be a lot of fun.
« It is a challenging circuit but I believe we have shown that we have a car to compete in most areas with the RB20. Japan really proved to me how confident I feel with this car and the performance I can get out of it, where I struggled last season. I was back in Milton Keynes this week (editor’s note: the factory), working hard with my team to prepare for the upcoming race weeks.
He bets on his preparation before the weekend to maximize his chances. « Preparation is very important during a sprint weekend, as we have very little training time in the car. The new format will be difficult to understand for everyone, but we are all in the same position, my goal is to get as close as possible to the maximum points throughout the weekend. »
