WEC – Hypercar rankings: Toyota takes a giant leap forward in the championship
The N°7 Toyota won the 6 Hours of Imola after patiently biding its time. The N°6 Porsche remains well clear at the top of the championship after finishing 2nd in the 6 Hours of Imola. Peugeot and Alpine failed to score big points.

Everyone was waiting for Ferrari at the bend, on its home turf, in Imola. But the strategic wanderings of the Prancing Horse have given a great opportunity to others to catch up.
The good operation is signed by Porsche No.6 (Estre/Lotterer/L. Vanthoor), who remains well ahead in the drivers’ championship. But beware: Toyota No.7 (Kobayashi/Conway/De Vries) has recovered a big bunch of points on the competition. Its 25 additional points allow it to climb to just sixteen points behind Porsche No.6.
Ferrari No. 50 could have hoped for better, but the trio Molina/Fuoco/Nieslen had to settle for 4th place at Imola. The first Italian LMH finished only 5th, with two consecutive 4th places.
The other good surprise comes from BMW No. 20 from Team WRT. The beautiful 6th place in Imola by Sheldon Van Der Linde, René Rast, and Robin Frinjs moves the Bavarian Hypercar to the 8th position in the championship, ahead of Alpine No. 35 (Milesi/Gounon/Chatin), which couldn’t do much more.
Peugeot N°93 (Vergne/Müller/Jensen) still only has two points. The new 9X8 will have to bounce back at Spa next month, especially since N°94 is still on a blank score.
Porsche maintains its lead among manufacturers
The nine brands involved in Hypercar will certainly engage in a big showdown, from the first to the last place. Porsche has gathered a lot of points, with a double entry on the podium of N°6 and N°5, both behind the Toyota N°7.
The Bavarian manufacturer is leading among the manufacturers, with 57 points. Toyota follows at a good distance (48) and Ferrari already has a significant delay to make up (31).
Alpine, thanks to the surprising 7th place in Losail of car N°35, remains in the Top 5, but has been overtaken by BMW in just two points, which seems to have found something on its M Hybrid V8. The Bavarian brand has 17 points compared to Alpine’s 15.
Peugeot is following behind with only four units. And Cadillac is in a surprising slump, with a still blank score.
In the team world cup, the Jota N°12, 2nd at Losail, now has only one point ahead of the AF Corse N°83 from Ferrari…which could have taken the first place, without Ferrari’s strategic blunders.
