In Indycar, a dummy falls on the circuit during the race and nobody cares (video)
It was the weekend's most comical motorsport event. During Barber's Indycar race, a dummy on a bridge above the circuit fell, brushing against the single-seaters. Race management didn't flinch, leaving the object for several laps.
It is common to compare Formula 1 with other championships and it is clear that Indycar remains a championship light years ahead in terms of mentalities compared to Formula 1. While drivers are racing during the Barber Grand Prix, a model (don’t ask why a model is here…) falls onto the track, probably pushed by the wind or some passersby.
A body falls
While we can follow the race live, on the 53rd lap, the cameras broadcast a mass that greatly resembles a human partially on the grass and the track, the single-seaters skirting this unidentified human form.
If for a few seconds, questions were raised about the possibility of seeing a person crushed live, it is ultimately a mannequin.
Indeed, just above the circuit, a crossing bridge allows spectators to move from one side of the track to the other. Mannequins are installed there and one of them has fallen, helped by passersby and the wind.
The race direction is not reacting.
While this object now identified as an inert mannequin is located halfway on the track, the race cars are driving by as if nothing were wrong. One of the cars even cuts off the plastic arms of the mannequin. Even if the object is not human, it is still dangerous for a driver, approaching it at 300 km/h. However, the race officials will not intervene, not displaying any yellow flag signaling a safety car. It will take several more laps for a driver to crash before a track safety vehicle comes to remove the mannequin.

This year, it fell.
