First podium with DS Penske for Stoffel Vandoorne in Monaco

It took Stoffel Vandoorne a season and a half to return to the podium. At the end of a well-executed race in which he battled the two Jaguars for the victory, the native of Kortrijk secured third place, stepping onto the podium for the first time since the second race of the Seoul ePrix in 2022, the year he won the title with Mercedes.

In the early laps, Vandoorne even took the lead of the race before the safety car came on track. He then managed the pack behind him, also benefiting from a great team race with his teammate Jean-Eric Vergne finishing fourth under the checkered flag.

« It’s great to offer me my first podium in Monaco with DS Automobiles. It’s been a long time and it’s really nice, especially with this special livery for an event that remains unique in its kind,” said the Belgian, referring to the black livery worn by the DS E-TENSE FE23 in the Principality. « We had a good day, without any real mistakes, with a good qualifying session followed by a solid race. We managed the beginning of the race well, and I even led at one point. I’m happy to be on the podium, but at the same time, I feel a bit frustrated because I feel like we could have won today.

With fifteen points scored thanks to his third place, Vandoorne climbs to 9th position in the drivers’ championship, two places behind his teammate, who did not fail to salute the overall performance of the DS Penske team in Monaco.

« It was a very good weekend for the team with some great points scored. I am also very happy for Stoffel, who is back on the podium. It’s been a long time for him and I know how good it feels. We are clearly in a good momentum that proves we have been working hard lately. We will continue our efforts and give our best to keep scoring big points in the upcoming races,” Jean-Eric Vergne said.

This will start on the weekend of May 11th and 12th with two races on the Berlin-Tempelhof circuit where Formula E will move into the second part of the season.
