Xavi Marcos has been Leclerc’s race engineer since he arrived at Sauber at the beginning of the 2019 season, taking on this role after working as a factory-based engineer, when Carlo Santi was the race engineer for Leclerc’s predecessor, Kimi Räikkönen, in 2018.

Thursday, Ferrari announced in a statement that Xavi Marcos will leave his position as Leclerc’s engineer starting next Monday, he is transferred to work on other important programs of the company.

The Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that as of Monday, May 13, Xavi Marcos will put his valuable experience gained as a race engineer with the Formula 1 team at the service of the development of other important programs of the company, explains the statement.

Ferrari took the opportunity to announce the role that Bryan Bozzi will play starting from the weekend at Imola.

The Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Bryan Bozzi, who has been working in the team for ten years, currently as Charles Leclerc’s performance engineer, will now take on the role of race engineer as of next weekend, during the Gran Premio del Made in Italy and dell’Emilia-Romagna at Imola.

This decision follows a series of tense exchanges between Leclerc and Marcos in recent years. Many have been following discussions about Ferrari’s race strategy choices following a series of chaotic tactical decisions during its title fight in 2022.

We do not yet know what Ferrari’s racing engineering projects are, when Lewis Hamilton joins the Italian team in 2025. Riccardo Adami continued in the same position when Carlos Sainz joined the team to replace Sebastian Vettel in 2021, but there have been speculations that Hamilton might bring along his long-time race engineer from Mercedes, Peter Bonnington.
