The FIA will keep the tyre warmers for next season
The FIA has decided to postpone the implementation of the ban on tyre warmers until 2024. The issue will be brought back to the table for discussions for the 2025 season.

Pirelli has tested the next season’s tires several times. The goal was to create a tire that did not require tire warmers. A device that the FIA has decided to postpone until the 2025 season.
A ban that Formula 1 drivers did not want to see in F1 because it was considered too dangerous.
The objective of these new tires is to address the environmental issue. « In line with environmental and cost reduction objectives in sports, an option to eliminate the use of tire blankets has been considered, and the Pirelli 2023 tire testing campaign has focused almost entirely on this objective, explains the FIA.
Despite the data which could have led to the implementation of this ban on heated blankets, this regulation should be considered for the 2025 season.
« Pirelli presented the results of this testing campaign to the F1 Commission. The test results conducted so far show that the change can be implemented by 2024. However, it has been decided to postpone the introduction of a ban on tyre warmers for slick tyres until 2024 and continue the discussion and testing for 2025. Further analysis will continue for other potential changes to the regulations that can improve the environmental sustainability of the sport », concluded the FIA in its report.
