Yuki Tsunoda will consider « interesting offers » if Red Bull shows no interest
Racing Bulls' Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda has indicated that his future lies with Red Bull. But if the Austrian team shows no interest in him, he will consider « interesting » external offers.
Yuki Tsunoda revealed that he would consider interesting offers if Red Bull did not consider him as an option alongside Max Verstappen.
The Japanese driver is part of the many F1 drivers whose contract expires at the end of 2024. He has achieved remarkable performance this year, regularly reaching Q3 in qualifications, and scoring points for Racing Bulls. Yuki Tsunoda has clearly outperformed his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who had high hopes of replacing Sergio Perez at Red Bull next year.
It is likely that Tsunoda will stay at Racing Bulls given the lack of better options on the grid. Despite his good form, Red Bull does not seem interested, while Aston Martin has confirmed Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. He indicates that he will remain loyal to Red Bull, but acknowledges Aston Martin as a possible option in the future.
During the press conference before the Monaco Grand Prix, Tsunoda discussed his future. “So far, I am very happy with VCARB,” he said. “Now, we are fighting for almost P7, P8. Probably the best teams are almost taken. We are probably the strongest team in the midfield at least. We will see. When you are at Red Bull, you aim for Red Bull, but if they don’t want me or they don’t expect me to be in the seat,” he added.
« If I receive an interesting offer that could be even better than VCARB or Red Bull, I will consider it. » Tsunoda has been part of the team based in Faenza since his debut in F1 in 2021. Even though his rookie season wasn’t incredible, he has retained his seat alongside Pierre Gasly.
« I have a great loyalty to Red Bull because without them I wouldn’t be here, obviously Honda too. Talking about Honda, maybe Aston Martin, but Aston also has two drivers. It’s very open, but for now, I’m happy with VCARB. »
