Valtteri Bottas will have to dig into his wallet for a mistake made during Free Practice 1 in Monaco. The Finnish driver was slightly over the speed limit in the pit lane after changing his tires, noted the stewards.

« The driver of the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber was recorded at a speed of 74.6 km/h, exceeding by 14.6 km/h the limit set at 60 km/h. As a result, he was fined 1000 euros », according to a statement from the FIA. This is a violation of Article 34.7 of the FIA Sporting Regulations.

The Finn finished in 13th place in Free Practice 1, behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. His teammate Guanyu Zhou finished only in 19th place and triggered a red flag after hitting the wall and leaving debris on the track.
