The concept is quite simple, the guest eats spicy chicken wings with increasingly strong sauces while answering the questions of the famous American YouTuber, Sean Evans. Several personalities have already participated in this show. One of the most well-known in the USA. It’s now the turn of Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton.

An appearance that was initially frowned upon by fans because, as we know, the seven-time world champion has been a vegetarian for a few years and has a plant-based diet. Don’t panic, the show offered him a vegetarian alternative to chicken.

The first question of the video asks Lewis Hamilton if there is a difference in mindset between being the hunter and the hunted. He replied: “Oh, definitely. I think it’s easier to hunt. If you’re hunting and you make mistakes, you can get away with it. You fall back a couple of steps and you recover. But if you’re in the lead, it’s so much more stressful.”

Hamilton has not been in pole position since 2021, when he lost his eighth world title to Max Verstappen. Since 2022, Mercedes has struggled to understand the new concept of the cars, with George Russell scoring his only victory under the new regulations at the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Hamilton opens up about his life away from the racetracks

He also spoke about the Formula 1 movies and his participation in the making of a film with Brad Pitt. « I find it very difficult to capture racing movies. You can’t have a truck following us, filming us at 20 mph, everything is a bit fake at a slower speed and then they speed it up. But here, everything is in real time, at real speed. I think if you go back to Steve McQueen for example, at that time, they had men lying at the front of a car with a camera… but now we have all this amazing new technology, so I honestly think Joe (the director) is going to amaze everyone. »

But also from his passions outside of racing like fashion, Hamilton is one of the drivers who stands out the most for his outfits. « I remember, when I was younger, particularly the racing suits, the old racing suits were really cool in the 80s, but obviously they have become more and more technical and therefore less cool. But I think that now, we see a lot more drivers stepping out of their comfort zone and focusing a little more on fashion. For me, it was like walking on the track and thinking, there’s no way to escape the cameras. I thought that if I was going to be photographed, I might as well make sure I looked good. »

It was an opportunity to unveil some anecdotes. Evans was interested in the preparation of a pilot, particularly on how to fit in a car, Hamilton joked: « Me, I don’t drink in the car often, I forget, but some drivers pee in the car, I drink a lot beforehand, but I don’t pee during the race. It happened to me once, it’s true, in Singapore 2-3 years ago, I was behind the safety car, it felt like I was dying and honestly, when your bladder is full, it’s hard to hold it. »

How does a driver behave when driving a city car? « I had people who, at red lights, wanted to race. And when I was young, I thought yeah, I’m going to smoke him. Today, I have a lot of road rage because often, when I drive just for pleasure, I’m not going somewhere for work or anything else, so I drive calmly and there are more people in a hurry than me. So I have a lot of road rage, ‘accelerate’. I find that in America, they are very aggressive. »
