Lance Stroll wants to perform at home
The Canadian driver talked about his feelings a few hours before racing in his home Grand Prix. A special feeling for someone who grew up twenty minutes away from the circuit.

Pilots often talk about this special feeling that drives them when they compete in their home Grand Prix. It’s Lance Stroll’s turn this weekend to be the local hero. While it seems unlikely that the Canadian will experience the same scenario as Charles Leclerc did in Monaco two weeks ago, he still aims to achieve a good performance.
The one who used to come see his idols on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit as a child will be on the starting grid on Sunday for the 6th time in Montreal. It is an opportunity for him to realize the journey accomplished. “I grew up here, 20 minutes from the circuit, so it’s always special to come back,” he declared at a press conference on Thursday. “I remember the time of Schumacher, in the early 2000s. Coming to see a race here was always a very exciting weekend. And yes, I mean that it inspired me in many ways to be here today.”
Facing difficulties in Monaco, Aston Martin hopes to be in better shape in Montreal on a fast track that should suit them better than the streets of the principality. “We seem to be a bit more competitive on circuits with longer straight lines. And our car is, I think, quite effective.”
Fourth in FP3, Lance Stroll then qualified for the Grand Prix in 10th position. As a reminder, he is currently in 11th place in the drivers’ championship with 11 points.
