Formula 1 (Liberty Media) and Apple Original Films announced today, through a press release, the release date of the highly anticipated film about the F1 championship, starring Brad Pitt. This film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, will be distributed in cinemas worldwide and in IMAX by Warner Bros starting June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025. The film, made in collaboration with Formula 1, represents a major breakthrough for the sport and cinema as most scenes will be taken from the F1 World Championship.

The statement specifies that the film was shot in real time during the Grand Prix races around the world, involving the entire F1 community, including the 10 teams, the drivers, the FIA, and race promoters. This unique approach captures the adrenaline and atmosphere of the races, offering viewers a fresh perspective.

An 11th team competing in the championship in the scenario: APX GP

This feature film will celebrate the skills and heroism of the drivers while highlighting the incredible challenges of Formula 1 competition. Brad Pitt will play a former driver who makes his comeback in F1, alongside Damson Idris who will play his novice teammate within the fictional team APXGP, facing off against the drivers and teams in the sport.

The production of the film, which began in 2023, will continue during this year’s British Grand Prix and several other races, to conclude at the end of the season in Abu Dhabi in December 2024. The star-studded cast also includes Oscar-nominated Kerry Condon, Oscar winner Javier Bardem, Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies, as well as Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo.

The worldwide release will also include screenings in IMAX theaters.
