A must-attend event of the season, the Spanish Grand Prix has often been an opportunity for teams to make improvements to their cars. Placed a bit later in the calendar this year, the Catalan event should not escape this rule.

Currently 6th in the constructors’ championship, Racing Bulls have started their season perfectly with several entries in the top 10 and already more points scored than in the entire 2023 season.

After a great Canadian weekend where he finished 8th after starting 5th, Daniel Ricciardo intends to continue on this momentum.

Barcelona is always a track where everyone brings updates, so I think it will be very competitive this weekend. I am looking forward to driving in the fast final part of the circuit which was modified last year. Usually, we do testing there at the start of the season but it was not the case this year so it will be fun. I like to think that this is the beginning of my progression this season and to show performances like those in Montreal,” the Australian driver said.

More in difficulty in Canada despite entering Q3 in qualifying, Yuki Tsunoda remains confident in his car’s abilities to shine in Catalonia.

Barcelona is a tough test for the car but we have seen that the VCARB-01 has been comfortable on all types of circuits this season so I am not worried from that point of view. The key will be a good understanding of our package from the free practice and getting the most out of it. This is another circuit where it is difficult to overtake so qualifying will be important.

Reflecting on his good start to the season, Tsunoda doesn’t hesitate to talk about the reasons for his recent good performances.

I build my weekends during free practice sessions but it’s also linked to the fact that I control my emotions better, manage myself better, and do so consistently. This makes my driving and feedback better and gives me additional confidence, concludes the Japanese pilot.

Regarding more specifically the developments made in Spain, Jody Egginton, the technical director of Racing Bulls, mentions the work provided by the teams based in Italy and England.

« As for every Grand Prix, there was intense preparation in the simulator and workshops to get ready. A lot of work was done by Faenza and Bicester to prepare and deliver aerodynamic updates for the floor, bodywork, and front wing for the two cars, which should provide us with more performance. Friday sessions will therefore be particularly intense to recover as much data as possible and be ready for Saturday.

With its evolutions, Racing Bulls plans to maintain itself at the front of a very tight pack and why not, get closer to the top 5 in the championship.
