Fernando Alonso: “The team works hard to bring new parts to every race”

Spanish driver Fernando Alonso is getting ready to face the Spanish Grand Prix in Montmeló with the aim of achieving better results at the wheel of the AMR24. The Asturias native is confident about the upgrades made by his team to improve the competitiveness of the car.

« The team is working at full capacity to bring new parts to each race and we hope to improve our competitiveness », he said in an interview with Aston Martin. He knows that the Spanish Grand Prix marks the beginning of a series of three consecutive races and emphasizes the importance of cohesion within the team: « We must work together as a team to ensure that we can make the most of each weekend. »

Regarding the technical challenges of the Barcelona circuit, Alonso emphasizes the importance of tire management and race strategy: « It is a circuit that all drivers and teams know well, so everyone has a lot of experience here. Tire degradation is a key factor on this track, which means that pit stop strategy plays an important role in the race. »

The Spanish driver also knows that qualification is crucial on this circuit: « Overtaking is not easy either, so ensuring that the car is well-prepared before Saturday will be important, as the qualifying position is crucial to have a good Sunday. »

He also emphasizes the importance of mutual support within the team to face the physical and mental challenge of the next three races: (e) We will also need to support each other during the next three races, as the ‘triple headers’ can represent a physical and mental challenge for all team members, not just for the drivers.

A special race for Fernando Alonso

Alonso also remembers his past victories on the Barcelona circuit, especially the one from 2006, which remains etched in his memory: “Over the years, I have fought some exciting battles on the track, and one of the most memorable is my victory in 2006. It was my first victory in my home race, and I will always remember the fans’ reactions; it was very special,” he concluded.
