Ferrari is going to recruit engineers from the WEC championship
After a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 50 years after exiting the top level of endurance racing, Ferrari is expected to transfer WEC engineers to Formula 1.
Ferrari hasn’t won since the Austrian Grand Prix in 2022. To win as quickly as possible, Frederic Vasseur should recruit WEC engineers from Scuderia Ferrari.
The Italian team hadn’t participated in the endurance championship for 50 years. Ferrari made a successful comeback in the WEC with a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Antonello Coletta went along with this rumor. « We are a large company. There is a lot of cross-functional collaboration between projects. It can happen that there are internal movements. This should benefit the boys’ careers and should not be done at the expense of the company’s objectives », said the head of the GT department at Ferrari to TuttoMotoriWeb.
The director of the endurance department was present in the garage of the prancing horse stable during the Hungarian Grand Prix. Some rumors mention Antonello Coletta as a replacement for Laurent Mekies, who is expected to take over the leadership of AlphaTauri.
« We always try to best combine the objectives and needs of everyone, continued Antonello Coletta. It is not the first time that transfers occur between different departments in Maranello, affirms the head of the GT department: « It can happen, it has also happened in the opposite direction. »
