Max Verstappen expected at the Goodwood Festival in July

Accompanied by Sergio Perez and Christian Horner, Max Verstappen will be taking part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Sunday July 14. For the occasion, he will be at the wheel of the 2021 RB16B.

As part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed ​​which will take place from July 11 to 14, Max Verstappen is expected to drive the RB16B for the famous hill climb. This car, in which the Dutch driver became Formula 1 world champion for the first time, will start alongside seven other Red Bull single-seaters. It will be the first time that a reigning champion will participate in the festival. His teammate, Sergio Perez, is scheduled to drive the RB19 from 2023.

The team principal of Red Bull Racing team, Christian Horner, a former Formula 3000 driver, will also be present at the event. On this occasion, he will take the wheel again and participate in this new edition driving the 2012 RB8 car. Former Red Bull drivers Daniel Ricciardo, David Coulthard, Mark Webber, and Christian Klien will occupy the four other cars, including the RB1, Red Bull’s first Formula 1 car.

Other Formula 1 teams involved

Beyond Goodwood’s strong appeal to other categories of motorsport, the festival attracts many Formula 1 teams every year. For the 2024 edition, six teams have already been confirmed. In addition to Red Bull, we will also find the Williams team, as well as Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes, and Alpine.

For now, few teams have checked their driver list, but it is already known that Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant will take the wheel of the 1982 FW08 alongside James Vowles, team principal for Williams, and Lia Block, Williams driver for the F1 Academy.

The new Hypercar unveiled

In addition to the seven single-seaters entered by Red Bull, the brand will unveil its new Hypercar, the RB17, the latest project by Adrian Newey for the team. With an innovative design and technologies said to be more advanced than what had been done before according to Red Bull Advanced Technologies, this car will be the first Red Bull-branded car available to collectors.

According to the event’s creator, the Duke of Richmond, this is the first time in the 31-year history of the Festival of Speed that a Formula 1 team has been celebrated at this level.
