It wasn’t George Russell’s day. With a perfect qualifying lap that put him in pole position for the Grand Prix, the British driver had to concede the lead of the race halfway through after experiencing difficulties in the rain and losing places to the McLarens.
After changing tires and going back out in 4th position with intermediates, George Russell’s team, Mercedes, called their driver back to the pits to retire.
